Victorian elegance! A beautifully crafted necklace from the Victorian era created from brass that has been gold-washed. The 8mm round pieces of sparkling amethyst glass are faceted and bezel set in brass and surrounded by ornately detailed brass background pieces. The glass sparkles so brilliantly, the pieces must be foil backed. Very good overall condition with no damage to the metal. The gilding has worn off in many places revealing the brass beneath which has aged to a very nice patina. The 'antiqued' effect is very attractive. Several of the pieces of glass have tiny flea bites that are only noticable when viewing through a loupe. All of the glass sparkles brilliantly with no dark stones. All parts appear to be original with no repairs. The spring clasp is in good working condition. Marked 'Czechoslov' on the jump ring next to the clasp. Choker length, 15 1/2 inches.
