Victorian Red Glass and Gold Washed Brass Choker Necklace

An ornate Victorian creation of gold washed brass and faceted red-violet glass. The colour of the glass is rather unusual. At first glance it appears to be a true red but when looked at in bright light, the red sparkles with violet and fuschia shades. I was not able to capture the nuance of colour in my photos. The larger oval faceted glass stones are prong set in intricately detailed brass fringes. The necklace closes with an elaborate filigree box clasp. The gold wash has worn from the surfaces of many of the fringes and the tarnished base metal beneath is showing through. The jump rings that connect the top and bottom pieces of the fringe, may have been replaced at some time. The metal lacks the tarnish of the other gold washed brass jump rings. These particular jump rings are very tiny so the difference is not noticable unless you scrutinize the necklace closely and certainly doesn't detract from its value as a collectible piece. The new jump rings appear to be 14k gold. Very Fine condition with no damage to the metal other than tarnish. No chipped or broken glass and no missing stones. The clasp is in perfect working condition. Gift boxed in a black velvet jewelry box.(The box is not vintage.)
