Vintage 1940s Forstner Gold Filled Snake Bracelet

A very attractive and rare golden snake to wrap around your wrist. An ad for Forstner snake bracelets appeared in the April 1947 issue of Harper's Bazaar. The ad describes the bracelet as a 'coiled serpent bracelet available in yellow or white and only at leading department and speciality stores.' This particular bracelet coils 2-1/2 times around the wrist. The head measures 1 inch long by 5/8 inch wide at widest part. Total length from nose to tail is 17-7/8 inches. The flexible body allows the bracelet to adjust to any wrist size. The head is ornately engraved on both sides. The little hole that appears beneath its nose appears on all of these particular bracelets created by this company, so I must conclude that it was manufactured this way and does not indicate that a part is missing. Extremely Fine condition with no damage or repairs. Hallmarked, Forstner 1/20 12k GF which indicates that this bracelet is gold-filled. Jewelry marked 1/20 G.F. 12 Kt. is at least 1/20th gold and is layered with 12 karat gold. To be classified as gold-filled, a piece must be at least 1/20 gold by weight. Gift boxed. (Box is not vintage)
